Buying from the net is obviously not as simple and safe as buying from your local stores. So, you must be here for good reasons: your local stores don't have the model you crave, or prices are too high. To mail order from the net, you will need to ..
- Decide what to buy base on limited info (pix and description). Nothing like seeing the real thing, but can't be helped.
- Decide on the delivery and payment options offered by the seller.
- Trust the seller enough to pay up first.
- Have calm nerves while waiting for parcel arrival.
- Be ready for import tax risks (overseas seller).
Mail Ordering from the internet requires a different shopping attitude. Price shouldn't be the first objective, Trustworthiness is. Unlike your local store, you can't see how legitimate the seller is. No matter how cheap, what good is it if he turns out to be a con, or a lame seller?
First question always is if you can trust that seller. Everybody wants cheap and good. But, that is in normal retail shopping. On the internet, it is good, then cheap. Find a good (trustworthy) seller first, then check the prices. Don't be penny wise but pound foolish.
Research in public forums and newsgroups. Read who do others usually buy from, and ask for recommendations. Just as importantly, read which sellers to avoid, and why.
After all the research, if you still don't have the stomach for it, .. then, very simply, just settle for your local store. Why put yourself, and the seller, under duress? .. and over a walkman, a headphone?
